Meditation and its practice is the solution. There are other temporary fixes that are available but we are focused on a permanent control over them. What is a restless mind? When the mind is in a state of restlessness it simply does not have the patience to keep focused on the intended object it is involved in. It is constantly slipping away from focus. No matter how much you wish for it to stay, the will power is too weak to keep it fixated. Secondly it does not have the intelligence necessary to keep it calm. Intelligence is derived from the power of Buddhi. The mind does not have the acumen to train itself to remain focused. It also is not able to recall why it has to concentrate. The restless nature of the mind makes it forget the whole purpose of concentration. Sometimes when we have intense anger, hatred or malice, we tend to see that we can concentrate but that is not to be mistaken as focus that is needed for a healthy mind. The energy that it takes to focus out of anger and envy only ends up leaving the mind fatigued. It also creates an impression deep in the mind of anger and hatred which in the long run is of no good. We have to remember that we are learning meditation so that we can have a mind that is our friend. The purpose of this article is to educate one on the types of mind that are there. Meditation and its practice is the solution. There are other temporary fixes that are available but we are focused on a permanent control over them.
